On May 1, 2004, ten new member states including Slovakia entered the European Union. During the following twenty years, there were fundamental changes in the constitutional architecture not only in the European Union, but also at the level of many member states. These changes directly affected both large dimensions of constitutional law \u2013 the separation of powers and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms. This development also included a constitutional dialogue between the Court of Justice of the European Union and the highest judicial authorities of the member states. The section welcomes contributions that will analyse the past two decades from the perspective of the science of constitutional law, as well as contributions of a comparative nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
